Living Options

Continuing students enjoy apartment living in Cerro Vista or Poly Canyon Village (PCV). Shared apartments feature single or shared rooms in the following configurations:

  • Four-bedrooms with four single bedrooms
  • Five-bedrooms with five single bedrooms
  • Four-bedrooms with two single bedrooms and two shared standard (not bunked) bedrooms
  • Double Suite: Three bedrooms with shared bunked beds and a dedicated study room

View room types through the community links above. The double suite room layouts will be posted soon.

Roommate Grouping Guidance

Shown here are the apartment room types and how many students each type can accommodate.

Apartment type is based on availability at the time of your room selection date/time and RLC location and cannot be guaranteed. If there are any empty spots in the apartment you assign into, they will be filled by other students or groups.

Example: If a group of four selects a six-person apartment, they can expect two additional roommates (either individual students or a group of two) to fill the empty spaces.

How to Secure Housing

All steps are completed through your Housing Portal on MyCalPoly. Dates and events are subject to change without notice. Please check back frequently.

Required Students

Current first-year CAFES, CAED and CENG students, Cal Poly Scholars, TRIO Achievers, and student-athletes starting their second year in fall 2025 are part of our required two-year housing program.

Or Request an Exemption

All Other Students

Continuing students who do not have a two-year housing requirement can add their names to our initial interest list for next year's housing.

Off-Campus Housing

If you are not required to live on campus, begin your search now. Even if you plan to live on campus, you may not get selected in the lottery outlined below for campus housing. You can explore off-campus options and resources for renters here.

Cancellations

The Student Housing License Agreement is a binding legal contract for the Academic Year. A student is expected to honor the License Agreement for the duration of the agreement. It is the student’s responsibility to personally notify University Housing, in writing via the online Housing Cancellation form, if they plan to leave the University or vacate housing for an approved and verified reason. All cancellation information is located here
