Required Students

Students who are part of our required two-year housing program are required to live in campus housing for two years.

Sign up in your Housing Portal on MyCalPoly. Visit our FAQs page for answers to specific questions.

1. Sign up Jan. 29-March 15

Complete the application, make the initial payment and submit. An email will be send to confirm your submission. Edit your application preferences until March 15.

2. Add Roommates March 2-15

Return to your completed application to request roommates who have also submitted an application. All requests must be mutually confirmed.

3. Finalize Preferences by March 15

Submit your housing application and/or finalize any edits by March 15 to be eligible for room selection, which allows you to choose your space.

4. Choose Your Space April 14-30

Eligible students select their spaces. Check your Cal Poly email for your appointment date, time and further instructions.

Selections are made by lottery, based on group size — six-person groups go first, followed by smaller groups and then individuals. Spaces shown will be in your Residential Learning Community (RLC). Preferences and roommate pairings are not guaranteed. If your preferred option fills, you’ll see other available spaces.

5. Change Rooms May 5-July 22

Students who did not sign up for housing by March 15 select their spaces. Those who have selected a space previously can view all available spaces, regardless of RLC, and switch into a different space. Switch as often as you wish.

6. Prepare for Fall
